The app, when paired through the Louvolite Smart Hub, allows users to schedule their blinds operation for added convenience and enhanced home security when they’re away from home.

Matter & Thread

Matter Over Thread

Thread is a networking protocol that makes Matter work better by making it easier and faster to connect smart devices to your smart home without needing a separate hub for every single device. They are essentially two industry-wide standards that communicate seamlessly. Matter will make smart home devices work better together. Thread will help improve the connections between them.

Thread

Thread technology is specifically developed for smart home applications to improve connectivity between products. This means that Apple Home Kit devices can communicate not only using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth but also using Thread. Thread creates a mesh network for items such as smart blinds, lights, thermostats, etc so they can talk to each other without the need to go through a item specific hub. This is because a Thread network doesn’t need one. If a single device fails, the data is simply relayed to the next in the mesh.

Matter

Matter is a new communication protocol which lets smart home devices communicate with each other independently of smart home systems like Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or Apple HomeKit. In other words, a common ‘language’ that lets smart home devices chat and understand each other. For consumers, this means more flexibility and ease, an entire family can control their smart home (if it has a Matter symbol) via a smartphone or voice assistant effortlessly using any device.

Louvolite One Touch Motors with Matter & Thread

The main benefit is that our DCM & ACM motorised blinds can pair to a users smart home pod* without needing an additional hub, where they can easily set timers/schedules via that smart home app.

*Their home pod MUST have something called a ‘Thread Border Router’ – this is built into the newer and more premium home pods – they must have at least one of these in the home for the blinds to pair. A few smart home systems which this works with include: Google, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Smart things and Apple Home Kit.
